Director & Head Coach

Dr. Mailie Harris is entering her 6th season as the Director and Head Coach of the Oilers Octane. She is involved in all aspects of coordinating the team from contributing to design the uniforms and co-ordinating their calendar photo shoots, to overseeing all their activities in game and out in the community. She comes with a diverse background of experience in the professional sporting industry starting in her native province of Ontario. Mailie served as Head Coach and cheerleader for the Toronto Argonauts Blue Thunder Cheerleading team from 2004 – 2007 and she coordinated Grey Cup half time shows for both Nelly Furtado in 2006 and Lenny Kravitz in 2007. After relocating to Edmonton in 2008, she was the Artistic Director of the 2009 Grey Cup in Calgary, coordinating all aspects of the entertainment at the Grey Cup Championship game. Mailie also co-directed the of the 2010 Grey Cup Opening Ceremony flash mob, held here in Edmonton. In addition to her work in the CFL, she also assisted in auditioning and securing talent for the opening show at the Whistler Medals Plaza for the 2010 Olympics and has floor directed “Honouring the Canadian Olympic Hockey Teams” at Commonwealth Stadium for TSN. She has also been a judge for the Alberta Cheerleading Association. Mailie has attended several professional cheerleading conferences internationally. Here, NHL, NFL, CFL, NBA and NLL professional cheerleading coaches meet annually to discuss strategy and share ideas in the world of professional cheerleading.

Mailie completed her Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Human Kinetics at the University of Guelph and then completed her Doctor of Chiropractic at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto. While attending CMCC, she was extremely active in school life, serving as both Class Representative and Vice President of Students’ Council. Since graduating, she frequently presents to corporate and sporting groups on a variety of health related topics. She currently practices chiropractic with her sister in Edmonton at the Chiropractic Wellness Studio.
