Equipment Manager

Lyle Kulchisky is in his 34th season as a member of the Edmonton Oilers' training staff. Sparky", as he is better known, has been a fixture in the Edmonton dressing room since the team's days as a member of the World Hockey Association. Joining the team in 1975-76, he worked as a dressing room attendant for three seasons (1975-76 to 1977-78) until joining the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Canadian Junior Hockey League in 1978-79. He served as the Oil Kings' equipment manager for one season before returning to the Oilers in 1979-80.

Now in his 31st season as the equipment manager of the Oilers, Kulchisky assists with all of the team's equipment and dressing room needs, as well as working with the visiting teams during their stay in Edmonton.

The 52-year-old native of Edmonton graduated from Eastglen Composite High School. During the off-season he enjoys horseback riding and hobby farming in the County of Strathcona and has an interest in thoroughbred horse racing. He, along with Joey Moss, the Oilers' dressing room attendant, plays an active role with the Mentally Handicapped Society in both Alberta and British Columbia.
